AI background removal for dealerships
Car background removal for dealerships — same day, on your backdrop
MotivoCast is AI car background removal and background replacement for dealership inventory: it takes the photographs your own staff shoot on the lot, removes the lot, the snow, the reflections and the clutter, and replaces the background with your store's studio backdrop the same day, with the AI agent and the capture app included.
What it removes
The lot, the weather, the reflections — not the car.
Automotive background removal sounds like one operation and is really four. The vehicle has to be found and cut out cleanly, down to the gap between a tyre and the ground. What was behind it — a service bay, a fence, three other cars, a February sky — has to go. Reflections of all of that in the paint and the glass have to go too, or the new backdrop and the old one argue in the bodywork. Then the vehicle has to be placed on a plate that was photographed from the same angle, with a shadow that sits where a real shadow would.
Drag the slider. The original is a real lot shot from an Ottawa dealership in winter. The result is what went on the website.

How it works
Shoot on the lot. It comes back on your backdrop.
There is no studio, no light tent and no photographer. A lot attendant walks the car with the MotivoCast app, which draws a wireframe over the camera for each of the required angles so the framing is right the first time. The set uploads from the phone. Processing runs per image, and each angle is composited onto the matching plate of the backdrop your store chose — a front-quarter plate behind a front-quarter shot, a rear plate behind the rear. The finished set lands in your inventory and at your feed address, ready for your website to publish.
- Twenty-seven guided angles, with the six that have to be right marked out
- One backdrop set per rooftop, applied automatically to every vehicle at that store
- Snow, rain, dirt, puddles and neighbouring property removed with the background
- Same-day turnaround: shot in the morning, live by the afternoon
One plate per angle
A backdrop is five photographs, not one.
The tell of a cheap car background remover is that every angle sits on the same picture. A rear three-quarter view pasted onto a front-facing showroom plate looks like exactly what it is. A MotivoCast backdrop set is one plate per angle, photographed or rendered from the position that angle is shot from, so the perspective in the plate agrees with the perspective of the car. Choose the set once per rooftop; every vehicle at that store comes back on it.

What it costs
Priced to your inventory.
Every plan includes a monthly allowance of processed images, and the plan itself is quoted to how many vehicles you list and how many rooftops you run. Set that against roughly thirty dollars a unit for lot photography alone, before detailing, before anyone moves a car, before the afternoon someone spends uploading. The AI agent, multi-rooftop inventory management and the capture app come with every plan.
Honest listings
We remove weather. We do not remove damage.
Background removal that can take out snow can, in the wrong hands, take out a scraped bumper. Our terms prohibit using processing to conceal damage, wear or any material fact about a vehicle, and put the accuracy of every published listing on the dealer who publishes it. We do not inspect vehicles and we do not warrant that a processed image is a faithful record of one — the photograph is generated from the one your staff took, and it is your responsibility to check it against the car in front of you. Every processed image on this site carries that disclosure. Dealers who care about their reputation tend to find this reassuring rather than limiting.
Questions dealers ask about background removal
Do I need a photographer or a studio?
No. Vehicles are shot on your lot, by whoever is available, using the MotivoCast app on a phone. The app draws the framing for each angle over the camera. No backdrop, light tent or professional equipment is needed.
Is this background removal or background replacement?
Both, in one pass. The background remover isolates the vehicle and drops what was behind it; the replacement step composites the car onto a backdrop plate photographed from the same angle, with a shadow where a real one would fall. Most car background replace tools stop at a flat cut-out on a single image — the per-angle plate is what makes the result look photographed rather than pasted.
How long does car background removal take?
Processing runs per image and a full set is typically back within the hour. In practice a vehicle shot in the morning is on your website the same afternoon, against an industry average of three to five days when photography, editing and upload are separate people's jobs.
How is it priced?
Every plan includes a monthly allowance of processed images, along with the AI agent, inventory management and the capture app. Plans are quoted to your inventory volume and number of rooftops; talk to us for a quote.
Can I use my own dealership building as the backdrop?
Yes. A backdrop set is one plate per angle, and we build them from your own building or from a studio environment you choose. Each rooftop in a group can have its own, and it applies automatically to every vehicle at that store.
Does it work in winter?
That is largely the point. Snow on the ground, salt on the lot, grey sky and puddles are removed with the background. The vehicle is placed on the same backdrop it would have in July.
Does it remove dents or scratches?
It removes the background and its reflections. It is not designed to alter the vehicle, and our terms prohibit using it to conceal damage or any material fact about a car. Accurate listings are the dealer's responsibility and we say so plainly.
Are the images AI-generated?
The processed images are generated from the photographs your staff take: the vehicle is cut from the original and composited onto a backdrop plate. Every processed image carries an invisible, machine-readable mark identifying it as AI-generated. It does not change how the image looks, and it is designed to survive resizing and compression. We do not add a visible label; whether and how to label your listings is your decision.
How does the finished set get onto my website?
Every store has a feed address. Your website or inventory provider reads it and publishes what it finds. We do not connect to your systems or write to them — the feed is ours to publish and yours to consume.
